Joe is thirteen years old. He began his piano studies at the age of three and won his first piano competition aged five. Since then, he has won a number of first prizes in music competitions including First Prize in the U-9, U-11, U13 Piano Solo and U-11 repertoire, Rhona Marshall Cup(U14), Patricia Read Cup(U17) at the ESB Feis Ceoil. He was awarded the Dublin Philharmonic Junior Solo Concerto Prize (U-18) in 2015. He was selected as one of the top ten talented young artists nationally to perform at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) High Achiever Awards 2013 Gala Concert.
At age 9, Joe made his piano solo début in Carnegie Hall with the New York Concerti Sinfonietta and in Trinity College Dublin with the RIAM Chamber Orchestra.
At age 10, he made his piano solo début in the National Concert Hall as a special guest at the ESB Feis Ceoil gala concert. He also held his first solo recital concert in the same year. Joe was also awarded a place in the RIAM Young Scholars Programme.
At age 11, he performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the RIAM Symphony Orchestra in UCD's Astra Hall. He also held his second solo recital concert in the same year.
At age 12, he was invited to play in the RDS Rising Star series.
Joe has been invited to perform at many events: Launch of the 7th Dublin Chinese New Year Festival 2014 in the Hugh Lane Gallery by Dublin City Council, China Meets Ireland in Birr Castle in June 2014, the Russian Music Festival in 2016 in the Hugh Lane Gallery, fund raising campaign concerts for the Dublin International Piano Competition 2018, launch of the 36th International Concert Season for Music for Galway in the Swiss Embassy along with Finghin Collins in 2016, launch of the New Ross Music Festival in 2018, the Emily Anderson Memorial Concert and in Dublin Castle as part of Great Music in Irish Houses.
Joe began studying piano with Prof. John O’Conor at age 6. His current teachers are Prof. John O’Conor and Alexander Bernstein at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
